Board feet
Board feet = (thickness in. × width in. × length ft) ÷ 12. It's how framing lumber and hardwood are typically priced.
Wall studs
Studs = wall length ÷ spacing + 1, plus extra studs for each door/window opening (king + jack studs).
Stud spacing
16 in. on-center is standard for most residential walls; 24 in. is common for advanced framing to save material.
